Description

Thermon KSR self-regulating heating elements are an integral part of Thermon’s SnoTrace snow and ice melting systems. KSR is specially designed and approved for direct burial and can withstand the harsh conditions during concrete placement.

KSR’s self-regulating heat output varies in response to surrounding concrete temperatures. When the concrete is at or below freezing point, KSR delivers maximum power. As the concrete heats up, the power decreases. Energy efficiency can be achieved without special or sophisticated monitoring and control systems.

EASY TO DESIGN
Determining the circuit layout of KSR for a snow and ice melting system is simple. The step-by-step design guide walks the reader through determining heating requirements, selecting heating cable spacing, and determining the number of heating circuits and accessories needed to complete the SnoTrace system.

With cut-to-size parallel circuits, KSR easily adapts to design variations on the construction site. This can reduce or eliminate the need to redesign circuits off-site without detail or sufficient time to respond.

EASY TO INSTALL
The demanding environment associated with complex laying patterns, reinforcing steel and concrete towers requires the heating cable to be robust. The KSR with fluoropolymer sheath and an additional outer sheath of silicone rubber provides the necessary durability. Yet the cable is flexible enough to adapt to shapes such as stairs, curved walkways, landings or other tight spaces.

Installing and finishing KSR is easy. Simply unwind the amount of heating cable required for the area/circuit and finish the cable with Thermon circuit fabrication kits and accessories. Power connections, connection kits, end finishes and expansion joint kits are all specially designed for the demanding application.

Certified for use in ordinary (nonclassified) areas and potentially explosive atmospheres, Thermon KSR heat trace cables adhere to the ATEX Directive.
