Description
Thermon DSX self-regulating heating cables are designed for freeze protection and maintaining process temperatures, up to a maximum of 65°C. Ideal for light industrial and commercial applications, these heat trace cables are suitable for small to medium diameter metal and plastic pipes and equipment. DSX heating cables are not recommended for applications involving steam cleaning. When powered off, these cables can withstand continuous exposure temperatures of up to 85°C.
The DSX cable’s heat output adjusts based on environmental conditions throughout the entire circuit. As heat loss from the insulated pipe, tank, or equipment increases (due to a drop in ambient temperature), the cable’s heat output increases. Conversely, when heat loss decreases (due to a rise in ambient temperature or product flow), the cable responds by reducing heat output. The self-regulating feature allows overlapping without causing temperature disturbance. DSX heating cables come with a polyolefin (OJ) outer sheath for mild inorganic solutions, a fluoropolymer (FOJ) outer sheath for higher chemical resistance, and an economical variant with a polyolefin outer sheath and foil with an earth wire.
Certified for use in regular (unclassified) areas and potentially explosive environments, DSX heat tracing cables comply with ATEX and IECEX standards.
