Description

Thermon HPT power-limiting heating cables, recognized for high performance, are designed for precise process temperature maintenance up to 210°C and essential freeze protection demanding elevated temperature exposure. HPT heating cables find versatile applications on piping, tanks, vessels, and equipment. Even when powered off, these cables exhibit remarkable durability, enduring continuous exposure temperatures of up to 260°C, owing to their fluoropolymer (OJ) overjacket that ensures robust chemical resistance against aggressive organics and corrosives.

The power-limiting feature of HPT heating cables is attributed to a coiled resistor alloy heating element, incorporating a Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) characteristic. This unique feature decreases the cable’s power output as the heat-traced product temperature rises, enabling safe cable overlap during installation. The composite construction of the heating element, fiber substrate, and an additional fiber cushion layer contributes to the exceptional durability and high performance of these heating cables.

Approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified) areas, hazardous (classified) areas, and Zone 1 and 2 classified areas, HPT heat trace cables provide reliable solutions across a spectrum of environments.
